What is Double Cleansing?
You’ve probably heard of double cleansing, the world-wide skincare phenomenon that was born in South Korea. The concept is simple: use an oil-based cleanser as your first step, and then follow it up with a water-based foaming cleanser.
But why? Well, simple soap and water can’t remove oil or oil-based impurities from your skin. Water and oil don’t mix. So, you need an oil-based cleanser to remove that oil-based debris from your skin: like makeup, sunscreen, sebum, and other pollution.
Once you get rid of that entire gunk, your second-step water-based cleanser can reach deeper into the skin and remove dirt, sweat, and grime. Therefore, you get a much more thorough, penetrative cleanse.
Who Should Do It?
Anyone can double cleanse, but some skin types can benefit from it more than others. People with oily skin can find that double cleansing offers a thorough cleansing without over drying and leading to excess oil production.
People with acne-prone skin can find that double cleansing is effective for removing breakout-causing bacteria.
And of course, people who wear makeup will definitely enjoy the benefits of double cleansing as it can ensure the makeup is completely washed off.
People with dryer skin types can try it too! Oil cleansers can often have moisturizing benefits as well as cleansing.
How OxygenCeuticals does Double-Cleansing
Just like any other respectable skincare brand, we offer a quality oil-based cleanser to efficiently melt off makeup and oil buildup.

OxygenCeuticals’ Double Makeup Remover is cleansing oil that melts away makeup while keeping the skin soft and hydrated. Formulated with Soybean Oil, a natural vegetable oil that contains linoleic acid to help strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier.
Since most makeup and sebum are oil-based, you need an oil to effectively remove them from the skin. A regular foaming cleanser can’t reach that deeply into the pores to clean them out.
The Double Makeup Remover also contains Vitamin E for nourishment and moisture, as well as Korea Dendropanax extracts for firming up and evening out the skin tone.
This oil cleanser can be used as, of course, an oil cleanser by taking an appropriate amount and mixing it together with water to create an emulsion. Then you can gently massage the product into your skin and feel the makeup and dirt melt all away before rinsing and moving onto your foam cleanser.
Or, you can use it as its name suggests, as a makeup remover! Soak some cotton pads with the product and gently lay them on your eyes and lips for about ten to fifteen seconds before wiping your makeup right off.

Then we get to move on to our second step: The Pore Mask! This foam cleanser is one of our most popular and best-selling products with both retail and professional customers.
Infused with pure Oxygen, the Pore Mask is a fluffy, bubble foam cleanser. Containing Stearic Acid (a natural fatty acid), the cleanser effectively absorbs and removes impurities from pores. Lavender Oil in the formula controls sebum production, which leads to less breakouts and a smoother complexion while Pursley Extracts keep the skin moisturized and soothed from inflammation.
To use it, you can take a reasonable amount and lather with water to create foam. Then you gently massage the foam onto your skin. Then rinse with lukewarm water.

Or! If you want an even richer, thicker foam. You can mix one pump of the Pore Mask with 10-15ml of the Cryogenic Activator, a solution of desalinated deep sea water and dissolved oxygen.

This mixture will create very thick, intense whip cream-like foam that you can apply on your face like a mask. Leave it on for a few minutes to gently remove impurities before gently removing with a moist sponge.
If you have acne prone or sensitive skin!
You might be worried that this might be too intense for your skin. Have no fear! OxygenCeuticals offers another line of products just for you!

People with reactive skin might not like the idea of using a cleanser based on Soybean Oil, and that’s understandable. We have an alternative. The Gentle Facial Cleansing Lotion is a gentle, non-greasy, and non-irritating cleanser with a smooth, milky texture.
It effectively removes makeup and impurities without drying out the skin. It’s packed with ingredients that maintain the skin’s moisture barrier so that irritated skin doesn’t get, well, more irritated. The inclusion of Safflower Seed Oil helps maintain moisture in the skin while Kyounin Yu nourishes and Algin moisturizes.
To use it, you can take an adequate amount and gently rub all over the face. Afterwards, use a cotton pad or sponge to remove.

After using the Gentle Facial Cleansing Lotion (really rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it), you can use the Purifying Foaming Wash as your second step cleanser.
This gel-type, sub-acid cleanser has a pH of 5.0, which will be sure not to disturb your skin’s natural pH (disrupting your skin’s pH can lead to cyst-like acne and inflammation). It cleanses sensitive and trouble skin without causing irritation.
Clinically tested to work on sensitive skin, this cleanser is formulated with Dimethyl Sulfone and Saururus Chinensis Leaf Extract which both fight inflammation and microbes. Ingredients like Apricot Kernal Extract and Rehmannia Glutinosa Root Extract work together to fortify your natural skin barrier and protect the skin.
To use it, take an adequate amount and lather with water. After gently applying and rubbing onto the skin, rinse off with lukewarm water.
Triple Cleansing?
What if sometimes double cleansing just isn’t enough? Every once in a while, you’ll need to add in an extra step to really get in and remove all the buildup of impurities and dead skin cells hidden deep inside.
This is when you need to “peel” your skin. Of course, you can go and get your skin literally peeled at a professional spa. However, you can also get results by applying a chemical peel at home once every week to achieve similar results.
What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a skin exfoliant which a pH of around 2.0. Chemical Peels typically contain acids called AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids). These are chemical exfoliants that remove dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin.
AHAs work by reducing the concentration of calcium ions in the skin which promotes the shedding of surface-level skin cells (If you’ve heard of Glycolic or Lactic Acid, you’ve heard of AHas)
BHAs do much of the same, but they provide antibacterial benefits. One BHA you’re probably already familiar with is Salicylic Acid, commonly used to treat acne.
Chemical Peeling with such acids provide a variety of benefits for our skin. They can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, revive dull skin, remove dark spots, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, and even improve acne.

To use it, apply a thin layer onto the skin after toning, avoiding areas near the eyes. If you have normal skin, leave on for 1-2 minutes before rinsing off. If you have oily or troubled skin, leave on for 2-3 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.
If you have sensitive skin, it might be best to dilute this product, as it can be quite intense. You can get rid of blackheads by applying a thin layer on oily parts of the face (think T-Zone and U-Zone) and creating a mummy mask of cotton pads soaked with Cryogenic Activator. The Cryogenic will dilute the solution slightly to reduce any risk of irritation. You can leave this mask on for up ten minutes before wiping it off.
Let’s say your skin is suuuper sensitive and the Double Peel or any other chemical peel just isn’t for you. Not to worry, we still have another way to peel and exfoliate our skin.

The Daily Botanicals Enzyme Peel is a gommage type of peel formulated with pineapple and papaya extracts to remove dead skin cells without causing irritation. The Pineapple extract will work to exfoliate while the papaya tightens up your pores.
A gommage peel works a little differently from a chemical peel. First, it’s a mixture of a chemical and physical exfoliator. When you apply the gel/lotion type product on your skin, you can let it sit for a minute to let the enzymes do its work. Then, you will gently rub the product around your face. The product will pill slightly to provide a gentle exfoliation. You will notice dead skin cells peeling off of your face while you’re rubbing.

After your skin feels soft and smooth, you can rinse the product off with lukewarm water. We recommend you to use the Daily Botanicals Enzyme Peel 1-2 times a week depending on your skin type and the Double Peel once a week, again depending on your skin type.

And there you have it! Your skin will feel fully cleansed and smooth after our triple cleansing method! Remember, you double cleanse every day, but triple cleanse only once or twice a week. Too much exfoliation isn’t good for your skin’s protective barrier and can lead to inflamed skin.
